According to the Vice Presidency of Research at the Department of Psychology, the article "No mercy for victims: Exploring the link between dark personality traits, aggressive video game behavior and severe traffic violations", published in issue 49 of the journal "Aggressive Behavior" by Wiley in 2023, following collaboration with a research group from France and participation of Dr. Soghra Ebrahimi Ghavam, faculty member of the Department of Educational Psychology now becomes the journal's top viewed article. This research investigated the association between dark personality traits, such as narcissism, Machiavellianism, self-centeredness, and sadism, and aggressive behavior in violent video games that result in severe traffic offenses. The study involved 200 drivers with a history of high-risk driving offenses. Notably, in contrast to individuals armed with a weapon, these respondents exhibited more aggressive behavior towards unarmed individuals. Another intriguing finding of the study revealed high levels of empathy among criminals towards other criminals and disproportionately low levels of empathy towards innocent individuals.
