History
- Initially established in 1984 as "Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences";
- Started to enroll students in Bachelor’s Degrees in Education, Psychology, and Counselling since 1984;
- Started to enroll students in Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and General Psychology since 1988;
- Started to enroll students in Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology since 1989;
- Started to enroll students in Bachelor’s Degree in Knowledge and Information Science, and Master’s Degrees in Psychometrics and the Psychology and Education of Exceptional Children, and the PhD Degree in Psychology since 1990;
- Started to enroll students in PhD Degree in Counselling since 1991;
- Started to enroll students in PhD Degree in Educational Psychology since 1998;
- Started to enroll students in PhD Degree in Educational Technology since 2000;
- Started to enroll students in Master’s Degrees in Rehabilitation Counselling, School Counselling, Career Counselling, Family Counselling, Curriculum Development, Preschool Education, and Elementary Education since 2001;
- Started to enroll students in Master’s Degree in History and Philosophy of Education since 2002;
- Started to enroll students in Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology since 2005;
- Moved to ATU's new campus in 2006;
- Started to enroll students in PhD Degrees in "Educational Measurement and Assessment" and "Curriculum Development", and Masters Degrees in "Information Management" and "Management of Digital Libraries" since 2007;
- Started to enroll students in PhD Degree in "Educational Administration" since 2009;
- Started to enroll students in PhD Degree in "Psychology and Education of Exceptional Children" since 2010;
- Started to enroll students in PhD Degree in "Philosophy of Education" since 2012;
- Started to enroll students in Master’s Degrees in "Educational Research", "Industrial-Organizational Psychology", and "Human Resource Development and Training" since 2016;
- Started to enroll students in Master’s Degree in "Cognitive Psychology" and PhD Degree in "Clinical Psychology" since 2019;

Faculty Members
To date, 73 full-time faculty members are providing educational and research services to students at Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD levels. As of November 2024, about 120 visiting lecturers are also providing part-time support to the teaching activities in the faculty.

There is a library in the FPE, keeping a catalogue of more than 110,615 volumes in English and Persian.
There are also hundreds of Masters dissertations and PhD theses in the library, and users may enjoy free online access to all theses and dissertations at ATU's Digital Library portal.
