Department of Knowledge and Information Science
In 1990, the then Department of "Library and Information" was added to the Faculty of Psychology and Education at Allameh Tabataba'i University. Since then, the department started to admit Associate degree-holding students and trained them for a bachelors degree. Three years later, the programme gave place to an undergraduate programme, admitting freshemen and providing them with educational services and four-year bachelors degree.
With further strengthening of the infrastructures and the efforts of our Faculty Members, the masters degree programme was established in 2007. In 2011, with the efforts and support of ATU's officials, other specialized and efficient academic staff joint the department and contributed to a significant increase in the quality of the educational, research, and administrative programmes and services. Moreover, in 2014, the department name changed from "Library and Information Science" to the "Knowledge and Information Science" and considerable revisions were made into the curricula. Finally, in 2019 the new masters degree programme in "digital library" was established in the department.
