Department of Educational Psychology
Department of Educational Psychology is currently admitting students in Masters and PhD levels. Due to the urgent need for training specialised graduates in the area of Educational Psychology, the Department has ever since its establishment tried to offer relevant degree programmes to postgraduate students.
To date, there are 6 full-time faculty members teaching and researching in the Department. The faculty members are offering the latest advances in various branches and areas of Educational Psychology. Of the 6 faculty members, 2 member are full professor, 2 members are associate professors, and 2 members are assistant professors.
Moreover, there are currently about 137 students studying in the Department. Since 1993, a total of 431 students have graduated from the Department. In the 2018-2019 academic year, a total of 31 freshmen were admitted into the Department and 9 students were graduated.
Degree Programmes
The programmes offered in the Department of Educational Psychology are introduced and specified below.
Masters Degree Programmes
- Educational Psychology: The masters degree programme in Educational Psychology started to admit students since 1989. The programme is offered in Allameh Tabataba'i University for a period of 2 years, 4 semesters. After passing the taught courses, students have to prepare and defend a masters dissertation to receive their degrees.
- Cognitive Science, concentrating on Cognitive Psychology: The masters degree programme in Cognitive Science, concentrating on Cognitive Psychology started to admit students since 2019. The programme is offered in Allameh Tabataba'i University for a period of 2 years, 4 semesters. After passing the taught courses, students have to prepare and defend a masters dissertation to receive their degrees.
PhD Degree Programme
- Educational Psychology: The PhD degree programme in Educational Psychology started to admit students since 1998. The programme is offered in Allameh Tabataba'i University for a period of 4 years, 8 semesters. Students have to pass 18 taught credits followed by another 18 dissertation credits, 36 credits in total. After passing the 18 taught credits, students have to sit a "comprehensive exam" and receive a minimum mark 16, out of 20. After the Comprehensive Exam, the PhD candidates are allowed to choose their dissertation titles and prepare their proposals with the helps of supervisors and advisors.
