History

After the Islamic Revolution in Iran, in 1982 the Abu Reihan Biruni University, Azad University of Iran, Shemiran Graduate School, Damavand College, Pars Graduate School, and the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences merged to form the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences.
At that time, the faculty operated under the auspices of the Literature and Humanities Academic Complex, located on South Kargar Street, Tehran. In those years, the programs taught in the faculty included counselling, education, and psychology.
In 1984, after merging the Literature and Humanities Academic Complex with Administrative and Commercial Sciences Academic Complex, Allameh Tabataba'i University (ATU) was officially established. Following the establishment of ATU, however, the name of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences remained the same and it continued to work in the same place.
In 2006, the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences (FPES) moved to ATU's new campus in Dehkadeh Olympic neighbourhood in western Tehran. There are currently 11 departments in the FPES, namely the departments of
